Instructions

  • You must send this form by e-mail, filled in English or in spanish. We will not accept this form on paper.
  • You must fill all the fields for each equipment, spare part etc…
  • You must fill one form per vehicle.
  • You must send back the attachment before 15th november the 2008 to François HABIB DELONCLE: fhabibdeloncle@aso.fr

The competitors who will take care of their own logistics will have to declare the equipment they will be importing to Argentinean and Chilean customs. We recommend that these competitors use a professional customs clearance service. Should they so wish, they can get in touch with our service provider. The Waiver company is familiar with the problematic related to Dakar, and is able to respond to a variety of customs clearance requirements (land, marine or air freight).

MONEY

Euros are not used in Argentina and Chile. You must change into local currencies. US dollar can be a solution but local currencies are more easily accepted.

The currencies are different in Argentina and Chile:
Argentina: argentinean peso
Chile: chilean peso
For your information, please find below exchange's rates on 10/01/2008:
1 argentinean peso ? 0,226 euros
1 chilean peso ? 0,00127 euros

Credit card payments can only be done at the hotels and petrol stations. Be careful on the boarder crossing (there is not a lot of cash machines).

When you enter each country, you cannot have more than 10 000 dollars on cash (per person).

Budget idea for a motorcyclist ? 3 000 euros (including fuel) in case of problems, …, but you will have access to cash machines on every stage town.
