Dusan Randysek: “I was probably a warrior in another life!”
Dusan Randysek loves travelling and has journeyed through Africa with always the same passion throughout the years. “In Africa like in South America, the way of living seems very pure to me and closer to real things than in Europe”, says this sport shop owner who had a rather nomad childhood. “I grew up in Australia and spent a few years in Canada, a cosmopolitan nation where I met a lot of Africans. It made me want to discover their land of origin”. The passion for bikes came later at the age of 18. After almost twenty years of riding, a first Dakar seemed just too obvious. It was to be for the 2007 edition. The Czech rider’s experience quickly turned sour as soon as he reached Morocco because of an experimental bike and “not competitive at all because it had technical problems straight from the start”.
This time, to live the experience that has fascinated him for many years at the fullest, Dusan has chosen a 450 Yamaha that has already proved a lot. The material indeed has to be at the height of expectations because Dusan who will be riding without assistance would love to finish “in the top 30 overall”. Peaceful and calm in everyday life, Dusan confesses that he is attracted by the Dakar “because it’s like war. Without a good preparation, without concentration, without will power, you fail… I was probably a warrior in another life!” He, who worries “a bit about the sand” more than the rocky paths of his childhood in Australia, wants to witness the intense joy of those who will reach the Lac Rose.
