David Pabiska: «To finish better than last time »

“People who are mentally strong and have a lot of motivation”. David Pabiska also defines the “Dakar spirit”. David, who took part in the rally for the first time in 2007, had a great time from start to finish, finishing 42nd overall and eighth among the rookies. “The objective in 2007 for me was to finish. I did it. Now, I have nearly the same goal. To finish better than last time and be a part of the cortege at Lake Rose”, says the Czech.

A motorcycle racer since the age of 13, David Pabiska made a name for himself in national motocross and enduro championships (he was runner-up in both series’ in 2004) and on international events (he has taken part in the ISDE three times in 2002, 2003 and 2004). But the Dakar remains a “challenge” in which he has had an interest in for a long time.

The fact to have gone all the way on his first attempt helped him this year to make new sponsorship agreements to pay for his participation in as much as he can profit from a certain amount of media attention as a “member of the national team”.

Now all that remains to be done is to, once again, apply the principles that, according to him, make a good rider. “Respect, know how, honesty, desire and intelligence”.
