Jacek Czachor: "Full speed in Mauritania"
He could have been named the "Mister consistency" of the rally. In eight appearances, Jacek Czachor has never quit the race. After three first rallies that proved his constant progression (46th, 24th and then 20th), the biker entered the circle of the top fifteen riders in 2003 (13th). He has never left it since then.
But when it comes to giving nicknames, Jacek likes to be called the "desert Pole". "I feel at home in Africa", he says. And sand remains his favourite terrain. "It really is what I prefer. Even in Poland I train on sand. Actually hard surfaces don’t really suit me as well. I don’t really like the races in Europe".
The course of the 2008 edition is already mouth-watering for the biker. And the eight stages in Mauritania give him appetite for victory. His strategy is already found: "I will try to remain in the top 20 during the stages in Europe and Morocco. And then it’s full speed ahead in Mauritania!"
Jacek rides thousands of kilometres all year round. He only rarely misses out on a rally. His consistency finished by paying: Jacek was indeed crowned 2007 450cc rally champion. A little triumph that has today given him quite some notoriety in his country.
